August L. Muscatell, known by many as Auggie, 60, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday after an extended illness. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Louis A. and Martha (Paisley) Muscatelli. He was also preceded in death by a sister Kathleen Miller.
Surviving are: his loving girlfriend of many years who he adored, Patricia "Patty" Swires of Altoona; three sisters, Roberta "Bunny" Muccitelli of Altoona, Christina L. Phillips of Atlanta, Ga. and Julia M. Reijns of the Netherlands; and brother-in-law R. Larry Miller of State College.
Upon graduation in 1978 from Altoona Area High School, Auggie began working in Maryland. He worked for many various companies over the years as a cable lineman, before becoming an over-the-road truck driver, retiring in 2017.
Auggie was a kind, caring individual, always putting others before himself. He loved spending time with his dog, Frazier, enjoyed landscaping and, while living in Maryland, he played rugby in his spare time.
Friends will be received from 10 to the 11 a.m. funeral Mass on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Altoona, with Father Brian Saylor officiating. Entombment will follow in Alto Reste Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc. Online condolences may be expressed at www.thegoodfuneralhomeinc.com.
