Benjamin T. Wertz Sr., 85, Harrisburg, died Saturday at his home.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Kenneth and Agnes (Fochler) Wertz. On June 21, 1954, Benjamin married Patricia Frank in Altoona and she preceded him in death Oct. 26, 2019.
Surviving are four daughters: Tina States (Jim), Deborah Hartman (Lester), Mary Maillard and Patricia DuCarme (Ken); three sons: Benjamin Jr. (Wendy), Edward (Barbara) and Ronald (Cathy Jo) Wertz; 23 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and a great- great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Brubaker; a sister, Mary Margaret LeBlond; two brothers: Walter and George K. Wertz; and a son-in-law, Butch Maillard.
Benjamin served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the maintenance department at PPG. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altoona.
Benjamin enjoyed golfing, fishing and his family.
Family and friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. until the 12:30 p.m. funeral service Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park, Father Lubomir J. Strecok officiating. Entombment will follow in Alto-Reste Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Pa., 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
