Bernard “Ben” Thomas Hazenstab


Bernard “Ben” Thomas Hazenstab, 77, of Hollidaysburg, PA; passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He was born on February 27, 1943 in Altoona, PA; a son of the late Thomas J. and Marie (Miller) Hazenstab. On April 4, 1964 he was united in marriage to the love of his life- the former Sondra (Gill) Hazenstab. Along with his wife of fifty-six years he is survived by sons Timothy (wife Trudy (Blyler)); and Bradley (girlfriend Jacqueline Haga); grandchildren Molly Beck (Brandon), Brooke Hazenstab (fiance Ellis LaPiana), Megan Hazenstab, Jordan Hazenstab, Justin Hazenstab, and Abby Haga;
great-grandchildren Auriauna & twins Tessa and Aurora Beck; siblings Jane Jancula, Jeanie Sollenberger (husband Gerald), Maryann Nedimyer (husband Larry), Joseph Hazenstab, and Edward Hazenstab (wife Cecilia); special family friend Lori Lytle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ben was a graduate of Hollidaysburg Area High School Class of 1960. He retired from The Pepsi Bottling Company, worked for many years at Marianna’s, the railroad, and several other employers.

Ben enjoyed traveling with his wife, fishing, cooking, putting together model train displays, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved working on building projects with his sons and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Ben would strike up conversation with anyone, anywhere and always had a smile on his face, a twinkle in his eyes, and he had the biggest, kindest heart! Ben was also a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, in Hollidaysburg.
