Obituary for Bernard C. Ickes
Bernard C. Ickes Sr., 82, a resident of Maybrook Hills, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021.
He was born on September 4, 1939, in Altoona; a son of the late William and Mary (Dumbeck) Ickes. On September 1, 1962, he married Patricia Ann (Patterson) Ickes who preceded him in death on April 11, 2020.
Bernard worked for New Pig Corp. until his retirement in 2002. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a good bowler and a man who enjoyed being on the lawn mower cutting grass.
He is survived by three children; Melissa Murtiff (Michael) of Duncansville, Bernard Ickes Jr. (Lori) of Altoona and Michael Ickes (Lisa) of Altoona; four grandchildren, Shane, Garrett, Jarad and Emily. He is also survived by a great granddaughter, Madelyn Grace.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Scott Murtiff.
Friends will be received from 6-8p.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the Good Funeral Home, 108 Alto Reste Park, Altoona. Burial will be private at Alto Reste Park, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Central PA Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona.
