Obituary for Bonifacio R. Javier

Bonifacio R. Javier, age 91, died peacefully Friday, October 4, 2019 at his home
in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
Bonifacio is survived by his wife Emilia Javier, the love of his life for 60 years;
his six children: Bonifacio “Bing” (Lyn); Emilio (Clara) ; Alicia Gavieres (Ruben);
Marcos (Brenda); Renato Javier; and Miriam DeFay (Stanley); nine
grandchildren: Christopher (Brittany), Joseph and Sarah Gavieres; Marcello,
Malino and Milo DeFay; Patrick Javier; Irene and Marcos “Hunter” Javier; one
great-grandchild, Emilia Gavieres and many special family members.
Bonifacio was born May 25,1928, in Manila, Philippines. He graduated from
National University in Manila, Philippines. He was a retired civil engineer who
took part in the construction of I-79, gave 19 years of service with the West
Virginia Department of Transportation, and later worked for 11 years with the
Virginia Department of Transportation. Bonifacio was a devout Catholic who
was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Altoona. He took
special pride in his family, cherished time spent with them and taught them the
meaning of sacrifice. Bonifacio was an avid sports fan and a friend to all.
The family takes great comfort knowing that he will be reunited with his
parents, Donato and Irene Javier and his younger siblings Soledad Campos and
Ricardo Javier.
On behalf of their Papa, the Javier Family would like to thank Conemaugh
Hospice Service for their compassionate care. The Javier Family is also grateful
to Ruth Ann, Marissa, Joanne, Betty, Norie, Traci and Shirley, who kindly cared
for him, provided comfort, friendship and ensured peace in his final days.
Friends will be received from 5 PM to 7 PM, Friday, October 11, 2019 at The
Good Funeral Home of Altoona. Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM, Saturday,
October 12, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
