Obituary for Brenda G. Baker

Feb. 11, 1949 – Feb. 5, 2023

Brenda G. Baker, 73, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Sunday at her residence. She was born in Cecilia, Ky., a daughter of the late Earl and Edith (Yates) Stillwell.

She married William R. Baker Sr., who preceded her in death on July 3, 2019.

Brenda worked in the Food Service Department at Hollidaysburg Area School District. She started as a lunch lady and worked her way up to Manager of the Foot of Ten Elementary School Cafeteria. She retired after 38 years of service.

She was a member of the Smith Corner Independent Mennonite Church in East Freedom.

Brenda enjoyed reading, working in the yard, attending church, and spending time with her loving family. She did volunteer work after she retired. She volunteered at Scotch Valley Grange and Great Commission School in Altoona. She was also a member of the Ladies Guild at her church.

Surviving are four children: William R. Baker Jr. (Misty) of Hollidaysburg; S. Beth Greaser (Scott) of Ridgeley W.Va.; Jeanne Hepborn (Shawn) of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and James M. Baker of Hollidaysburg; eight grandchildren: William III, Barry, Kaitlin, Morgan, Adam, Lindsay, Jared and Nathan; three great-grandchildren: William IV, Jacob and Karissa; three brothers: Doug Stillwell (Linda) of Stephensburg, Ky; Walter Stillwell (Janet) of East View, Ky.; and Roger Stillwell (Bonnie) of Upton, Ky. She is also survived by sisters -in-law, Loretta Stillwell of Lexington, Ky., Patricia Holsinger (Donald) of Kill Devils Hill, N.C.; a brother-in-law, George Baker (Trish) of Arlington, Texas; and two special cousins, Michele Thompson and Marchitta Lucas.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Stillwell.

Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.; and from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Brenda’s memory to Smith Corner Independent Mennonite Church, Youth Program, 1955 Johnstown Road, East Freedom, PA 16637.
