C. Grant Gottshall Jr., 91, of Altoona, passed away at home on Saturday. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Clarence G. Sr. and Margaret F. (Bowman) Gottshall.
He married Pearl L. Price on Oct. 6, 1951 and she preceded him in death on April 15, 2019.
Surviving are three daughters: Gretchen Lechner (Tom), Susan Recchia (Lorenzo), and Sara Fralish (Curt); a son, David (Shelly); eight grandchildren: Jessica, Adam, Nina, Nick, Stacy, Ashley, Amanda, and Alex; eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Nancy Rupert of Flagler Beach, Fla.
Grant was preceded in death by four brothers: Ralph, Miles, Paul, and John; and by three sisters: Betty, Shirley, and Ruth.
Grant was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg where he enjoyed singing in the choir for 65 years. He also enjoyed traveling to 49 states in his motor home. He retired in 1989 as an Office Manager of the Juniata Locomotive shops after 36 years of service with the railroad.
He served in the Army from 1950-53, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Due to COVID-19, the family held a private outdoor service Sunday afternoon in Grant’s back yard. Entombment will take place in Alto Reste Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc. www.thegoodfuneralhomeinc.com
