Carole Jean ‘Grammie’ Falger

Sept. 18, 1936 – May 14, 2020

Carole Jean “Grammie” Falger, 83, Altoona, passed away peacefully Thursday at her residence.

She was born in Northville, Mich., daughter of the late Stanley Clair and Frances (Starr) Cooper. On Feb. 7, 1957, she married Joseph Daniel Falger in Barnesboro.

Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Karen Gamber (Brook) of Altoona; two sons: Joseph C. Falger (Debbi) of Altoona and John C. Falger (Brenda) of St. Pete Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren: Joseph C. Falger (Chrissy), Tina D. Falger (Scott Stuttard), Kristen Gamber (Crissy Tickerhoof), Claarissa “Cricket” Gamber and Nathan J. Falger (Natalie Romero); four great-grandchildren: Reece and Leah McManamy, Kason Gamber and Addison Falger; two stepgrandchildren: Melissa DiCello (Joe) and Eric Scherden (Brianna); three stepgreat grandchildren: Hannah Arch, Savanna DiCello and Violet Scherden; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Kay Rorapaugh.

Carole was a homemaker and worked at Sylvania, J.C. Penney, Sizzler Restaurant, Wissinger’s IGA Market in Wehnwood, OZ International and Sam's Club. She volunteered for 25 years with the Home Nursing Agency Hospice and she was also an Altoona Hospital “Pinky” volunteer.

She enjoyed studying family history, spending time with her family and friends, watching westerns on television and canning homemade jelly with Coleman Farm Grapes.

All services will be privately held and a celebration of life service will be announced at a later date. Interment will take place in East Ridge Cemetery, Westover.
