Constance Jean (Williamson) Donaldson

Constance (Connie) Donaldson passed away peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2022.

Connie was born on November 27, 1930, in Altoona, the daughter of Walton and Kathryn (Houser) Williamson.

On August 17, 1952, she married Robert I. Donaldson at the Fairview Methodist Church in Altoona.

Surviving are Robert, her husband of 70 years and children: Robert S. Donaldson (Alane Timmerman) of Hollidaysburg, Mark I. Donaldson (Cindy) of Hendersonville, NC, Susan D. Barton (Edward) of Hollidaysburg and David C. Donaldson of Carlisle; nine grandchildren: Jessica Winter (John), Andrew Donaldson, Elisabeth Sherman (Brian), Lauren McCrary (Adam), Sarah Donaldson, Matthew Barton (Andrea), Kathryn Greenberg (Joshua), Robert Donaldson (Molly) and Josiah Barton (Suzanne); nine great grandchildren: Grace and Henry Sherman, Abram, Park and Eliza McCrary, Henry Winter, Ingrid Barton, and Logan and Emily Greenberg and brother Zane Williamson of Altoona.

She was preceded in death by her sister Diane (Williamson) Sheets and brother David Williamson.

Connie was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1951 graduate of the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing. Connie worked as a Registered Nurse at the Hollidaysburg State Hospital, Altoona Hospital (Polio Ward and the Intensive Care Unit) and Blair County Home Nursing Agency.

Connie enjoyed spending time with family, attending events involving her children and grandchildren and playing bridge/cards with friends. She enjoyed gardening, volunteering, her dogs, traveling and antiques.

Connie was a volunteer for Contact Altoona for over 20 years and served as a PTA officer for Fairview Elementary School and Keith Jr. High School.

She was a member of the Altoona Hospital Junior Auxiliary, Altoona Hospital Alumni Association, Hollidaysburg Area YMCA Auxiliary and the Hollidaysburg Area Women’s Club.

Connie always served her church, beginning as a Youth Director at Fairview Methodist in the 1950’s. She worked on church beautification projects, including gardens, served on The Hollidaysburg First United Methodist Administrative Board and was a member of many church committees. Additionally, she served as a nurse for summer church camp and volunteered for Young Life.

Friends will be received from 5 PM to 7 PM on Monday, December 12, 2022, at Hollidaysburg First United Methodist Church, 801 Allegheny St., Hollidaysburg, PA. 16648. There will be an additional visitation at the church from 10-11AM on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, followed by a funeral service at 11 AM.

Interment will be private at Alto Reste Park, Altoona, PA.
