Dale R. 'Jake' Fitzgerald

June 24, 1935 - April 17, 2020

Dale R. "Jake" Fitzgerald, 84, Bellwood, formerly of Altoona, died at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Harry Malcolm and Georgia Elmira (Roland) Fitzgerald. On July 26, 1958, he married Patricia J. Laughlin.

Surviving are his wife; three children: Debra D. Diehl (Michael) of Pittsburgh, Wenda L. Trunzo (Frank) of Tampa and Robert D. Fitgerald (Debbie) of Altoona; four grandchildren: Kylee, Jacob, Joshua and Noah; five grandchildren by marriage: Carla, Jake, Kristan, Jason and Zachary; and two sisters: Lois Adams and Joan Reed.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: William, James "Jimmy" and Glenn.

He was a 1953 graduate of Altoona High School. He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving in the 709th Tank Battalion. He retired from Jubilee Markets and was formerly the produce manager at Acme and Shop N Save Markets. He was a member of the former Garden Heights United Methodist Church and was currently attending Asbury United Methodist.

Dale enjoyed fishing, woodworking and all sports, especially Altoona Curve Baseball. He was the original business manager of the Altoona Riflettes Drum Corp. and was a lifetime member of the Bavarian Aid Society.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be made in Alto-Reste Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Asbury United Methodist Church, 107 Asbury Lane, Altoona, PA 16601.

Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc., Altoona.
