Obituary for David J Baker

David J. Baker, 66, of Hollidaysburg, passed away to eternal peace Saturday. He was the son of the late Harold J. and Carol E. (Helsel) Baker.

He is survived by his daughter, Elyssa Baker and her husband, Matt Gray, of Gaithersburg, Md. Also surviving are his sister, Karen Kiraly; and nieces, Lindsey Kiraly and Christey Jones.

David was a graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School in 1975 and University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 1979.

He enjoyed Pittsburgh sports, especially going to Steelers games. He also loved playing guitar, music, reading, and gathering with family for home cooked meals.

For the past several years, David suffered from a very cruel behavioral variant of Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). He lost touch with his old life and many of his friends, but not his memories of them.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) at (, to help meet the needs of all who face FTD, bringing help for their journey and hope for their future.

At the family's request, there will be no public service. A celebration of David's life will be held at a later date.
