Dewayne Roy McKnight

Dewayne Roy McKnight, 76, our brother and everyone's friend, has joined the choir of heavenly voices, where we are sure the sound of his rich voice will be appreciated.
Dewayne was born in Altoona, PA on March 26, 1943, son of the late Leroy E. and Mary C. (Kepner) McKnight. Dewayne was first married to Ann Bardorf and then in 1987, he married Debbie McGraw, who lovingly cared for him the rest of his life and during his challenge with cancer and a liver transplant.
Surviving are his wife, Debbie, a gifted musician; son, John of Atlanta, Ga.; two stepsons: Jeffery A. and Jamey J. Lee, both of Altoona; three brothers: Dean E. of Hollidaysburg, Danny R. and wife, Sue, of Butler, and Donnie of Martinsburg; a niece, Katie of Bellwood; and a brother-in-law, Ray Fox, of Tyrone.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Donna L. Woodring and Doreen K. Fox.
For many years, Dewayne was a proud member of the Altoona Police Department, during which time he received several awards for his professionalism and dedication to his community. After retirement, Dewayne worked with his close friend, Ronnie Parks, as a car salesman at Park Motors.
During his life, Dewayne was an active member of several community organizations including the Masonic Lodge, Jaffa Shrine, The Fraternal Order of Police, the Jaycees, the Central Pa. National Guard and Veterans Association and several automobile clubs.
There will be no viewing, however a special service of celebration and remembrance will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019, at Jaggard First United Methodist Church, 1801 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona. Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jaggard First United Methodist Church, the Jaffa Shrine or to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
