Obituary for Diana Kay Schmidhamer

September 28, 1957 - February 16, 2022

Diana K. (Helsel) Schmidhamer, 64, of Altoona reunited with her husband John in heaven, after 40 years apart, on Wednesday at UPMC Altoona.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of Percy A. and Margaret L (Grove) Helsel. On March 30, 1974, she married John M. Schmidhamer, Sr.

Diana is survived by her son, John (Amy) Schmidhamer, Jr.; her daughter, Dawn (Gene) Schmidhamer; brothers, Gary (Donna), William and Herbert; sisters, Robin, Mary and Regina; grandchildren, Dondré, Jarrett, Jacob, John III, TréVarez and DaShylah; many nieces and nephews; and her granddog, Baby.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her furbabies, Dusty, Myra Babes, Stormy, and Nikita.

Diana worked in retail, spending most of her career at Sears.

Diana had a special love for pets. She enjoyed gardening, baking, and collectibles, specifically those that involved hummingbirds or roses. Diana took great pride in decorating the house for any holiday. Most of all, she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren.

Diana will be remembered for her caring heart and helping others in their time of need. She will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved her.

Friends and family will be received for a visitation at The Good Funeral Home, Alto Reste Park, from 2 PM - 4 PM and 6 PM - 8 PM on Monday, Feb. 21, and from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral service on Tuesday, Feb. 22. Pastor John Collins officiating. A graveside service will follow the funeral at Blair Memorial Park.
