Obituary for Doris L. Jones
Doris L. Jones, 92, Altoona, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 17, 2022 at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg. Born on June 20, 1930 in Altoona, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Olive (Hiteshew) Johnston. She married Sam Jones who preceded her in death.
Doris was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Altoona and sang in their choir. She was a past member of the Sweet Adelines which she enjoyed for many years.
She was a 1950 graduate of Altoona High School. After school she began working in retail as a buying agent for Fishers and Meyer Jonassons.
Doris was a fantastic cook and homemaker. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending as much time with them as she could.
She is survived by her daughter Vickie and her son Jeff both of Altoona.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Mohler and a brother, Wilber Johnston.
Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. until Noon on Friday, October 21, 2022 at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto Reste Park, Altoona. A funeral service will follow at Noon with Reverend Dr. Barry Folmar officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Alto Reste Park, Altoona.
