Obituary for Douglas Bradley

Jan. 22, 1944 – Nov. 20, 2022

Douglas A. Bradley, 78, Duncansville, formerly of Dearborn, Mich., passed away Sunday at his residence
surrounded by his family.

He was born in Detroit, son of the late Tom and Doris (Slater) Bradley. On July 9, 1976, he married
Margaret D. (Konopka) Oster in Dearborn, Mich.

Surviving are his loving wife of 46 years; two sons: Matthew A. (Janet) of Annandale, Va., Benjamin T.
(Agnieszka) of Fort Collins, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Dorothy A. (Michael) Compton of Altoona; seven
grandchildren: Joseph Compton (Sarah Mohammed), Veronica Compton (Jordan Cohen), Maria Bradley,
John Compton, Vivienne Compton, John Paul Bradley and Andrew Bradley; a sister-in-law, Suzanne
Konopka; three nephews: John, David and Philip Jones; and special family friend, Suzanne Daley.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Cynthia (Bradley) Jones.

He was a 1962 graduate of Taylor Center High School, Taylor, Mich. and served as an airman 2 nd class in
the 3 rd Tactical Fighter Wing, U.S. Air Force, in the Vietnam War. He received business education and
marketing degrees from Ferris State University and a masters in guidance and counseling from Eastern
Michigan University. He taught various high school subjects in the Detroit Public School system for 26
years.

Doug enjoyed bowling, golfing and competitive running. He ran in many 5k races, half marathons and
marathons. After retiring and moving to Pennsylvania to be close to family, he competed in the Blair
Senior Games for several years and won many medals in various events. He also enjoyed attending his
grandchildren's activities and sporting events. For several years, he and his wife spent winters in Fort Collins, Colo., to spend time with family there.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Veterans Administration, Kindred Hospice and
Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries for their outstanding care of Doug during his final year.

Memorial donations may be made to Blair County Citizens Concerned for Human Life, 2715 Third St.,
Altoona, PA 16601.

Friends will be received from 10 until the 10:30 funeral Mass on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, at St. Patrick
Catholic Church, 704 Patrick Lane, Newry, the Rev. Allen Zeth, celebrant. Burial will be at Alto-Reste
Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Blair County and Air Force Honor Guards.
