Obituary for Elmer H. "Chub" Cliber

Elmer H. “Chub” Cliber,86, recently of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home died Sunday February 10, 2019 at The UPMC Altoona Hospital. Elmer was born on April 1, 1932 in Altoona, PA son of the late John P. and Anna (Sherry) Cliber. He married Viola L. McCollough in June of 1956 at the Riverside Tabernacle in Flint Michigan. Viola preceded him in death in December of 2017. Surviving are 3 daughters- Debbie (Peter) Murtaugh, Diane (Dennis) McMullen, and Denise (David) Donaldson; 1 son- David (April) Cliber; 3 brothers- Richard (Carolyn), Ed (Gloria), and Walter Cliber. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren- Gabriel Murtaugh, Caitlin Murtaugh, Ian (Lindsey) McMullen, Shane (Lauren) McMullen, Shaunna Koszcyi, Stephanie (Jarrett) Bell, Walker Donaldson, Sydney Donaldson, Alyssa (Zach) Prain, and Aaron Cliber. Elmer is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister- Eleanor Clemens. Elmer worked for General Motors for 32 years, he attended Lakemont Schools, served in the US. Army as a Paratrooper in the Korean War, and enjoyed gardening, reading, building, and woodworking. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday February 23, 2019 at 1 p.m. at the Riverside Tabernacle in Flint Michigan.
