Obituary for Elva M. Davis

Oct. 6, 1930 - July 29, 2019

Elva M. Davis, 88, Hollidaysburg, passed away on Tuesday at UPMC Altoona.

She was born in Duquesne, daughter of Edwin and Beatrice (Souders) Bookheimer.

Surviving are her four loving children: William (Claudia), Mark and Steve (Kathy) Davis and Lisa (Doug) Speck; six grandchildren: Will (Hilary), Ben, Ashley, Stephanie and Eric Davis and Lauren Speck; two great-grandchildren: Peyton and McKayla Davis; five brothers: Robert, Jack (Kathy), Ronald (Liz), Clyde (Judy) and Dean (Caroline); a sister, Catherine (Gerald) Peters; two sisters-in-law: Lou and Betty Bookheimer; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Elva was preceded in death by three brothers: Merrill, Lawrence and Larry; and a sister, Rae Mellot and husband, Willie; a sister-in-law, Laura Bookheimer; and a daughter-in-law, Martie Davis.

Elva was a woman of her community, often times devoting much of her time to help others through the Call for Action volunteer group. She was a member of the local senior bowling league, loved playing cards with friends, traveling the country and cooking. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg.

Friends will be received from noon till 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park, where a funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Pastor Evelyn Madison will be officiating.

As per Elva's wishes, there will be no public viewing, just a time of visitation for gathering and sharing memories.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elva's name to American Rescue Workers or First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg.
