Obituary

Gary R. Blair, 80, Duncansville, passed away Friday evening doing what he loved, spending time with his wife, Donna, and friends. Gary was born in Altoona, son of late Robert and Hilda (Suckling) Blair.

Gary lived his life to the fullest and appreciated the time he spent with his family and friends. Gary is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 56 years, Donna (Martin), who loved him dearly. Gary is also survived by his two daughters: Deborah Scherden and husband, Brent, of Altoona and Chrissy Baker and husband, John; three granddaughters: Alyssa (Baker) DelBaggio and husband, Ryan, of Tyrone, Madison Baker and Samantha Baker, both of Duncansville; a younger brother, Michael Blair in Florida; and several nieces and nephews who all loved and appreciated their time with him. Gary was a 1958 graduate of Altoona High School, attended Penn State University and also served in the United States Army. He was a foreman at Small Tube Products for 35 years, retiring in 1998. He was a longtime member of the Blair County Antique Car Club and the Bavarian Aid Society. Gary was an avid car guy; he enjoyed drag racing at Peterson Memorial Dragway, burn outs, car shows, swap meets, trips to Florida and most of all, Gary loved spending time with his loving wife, family, friends, his cat, Precious, and cruisin’ around town in his black ’69 GTO. Gary, a jack of all trades, was always willing and more than happy to lend a helping hand. Gary’s smile, sense of humor and warm loving ways will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

At the request of Gary, there will be no viewing or services. Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc., Altoona, PA

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gary Blair’s name may be sent to Central PA Humane Society.

Donna and family,
I want to express our deepest sympathy for your loss. We moved into Carson Valley in 1976 and have been blessed to have a friendship over all these years with your family. We got to know you and Gary much better after joining the Blair Co. Antique Auto Club and being around the car shows and cruises where we enjoyed spending time with you and Gary. We appreciated the time catching up after your trips to Florida and visiting with you when we would see you guys out with your cars. I will remember the last time we talked and Gary shared the story of the tree removal that didn'tgo so well, you really got a kick out of that one. We will miss seeing Gary out around the houses as we go by each trip to beep and wave. Our boys always wanted to be sure to stop at your house for halloween because of all the decorations and especially the cotton candy.
Please reach out if there is anything that we can do to help you through this very difficult time of grief for your loss.

With our deepest sympathy,
Your neighbors
