Gary R. Blair, 80, Duncansville, passed away Friday evening doing what he loved, spending time with his wife, Donna, and friends. Gary was born in Altoona, son of late Robert and Hilda (Suckling) Blair.
Gary lived his life to the fullest and appreciated the time he spent with his family and friends. Gary is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 56 years, Donna (Martin), who loved him dearly. Gary is also survived by his two daughters: Deborah Scherden and husband, Brent, of Altoona and Chrissy Baker and husband, John; three granddaughters: Alyssa (Baker) DelBaggio and husband, Ryan, of Tyrone, Madison Baker and Samantha Baker, both of Duncansville; a younger brother, Michael Blair in Florida; and several nieces and nephews who all loved and appreciated their time with him. Gary was a 1958 graduate of Altoona High School, attended Penn State University and also served in the United States Army. He was a foreman at Small Tube Products for 35 years, retiring in 1998. He was a longtime member of the Blair County Antique Car Club and the Bavarian Aid Society. Gary was an avid car guy; he enjoyed drag racing at Peterson Memorial Dragway, burn outs, car shows, swap meets, trips to Florida and most of all, Gary loved spending time with his loving wife, family, friends, his cat, Precious, and cruisin’ around town in his black ’69 GTO. Gary, a jack of all trades, was always willing and more than happy to lend a helping hand. Gary’s smile, sense of humor and warm loving ways will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
