George T. Iuzzolino

Jan. 13, 1933 – Oct. 20, 2021

George T. Iuzzolino, 88, died Wednesday, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Pasquale and Margaret (Menza) Iuzzolino.

He married Patricia L. Kearney on April 29, 1951. She died Oct. 3, 2004.

Surviving are a daughter, Deborah L. Iuzzolino; a son, Chris M. Iuzzolino and his wife, Michele: granddaughters, Emily and Megan; and grandsons, Matthew and Alex Maher, all of Altoona. He is also survived by sister, Patricia Dionis; brother, Robert (Barbara); and many nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his brothers: James, Jack and twin, Matthew; and a sister, Rose Houck.

He retired as head groundskeeper from Hollidaysburg Area School District in July 1996. Previously he had been a co-owner of Jack and George’s Bar and also had been employed by the City of Altoona as a water meter reader.

George was a 1951 graduate of Altoona High School. He was a member of the U.S. Naval Reserves. He was a PIAA baseball and football official, having served as secretary/treasurer of the George Iuzzolino Football Chapter for over 15 years.

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park.

Due to George’s love for animals and support for many organizations, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
