Hiram C. “Bud” Koons
Hiram C. “Bud” Koons, 85, of Givler Drive, Martinsburg, PA; passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Homewood at Martinsburg. He was born on December 10, 1934 in Paoli, PA; a son of the late Edgar R. and Sarah M. (Mertz) Koons. On November 6, 1953 he was united in marriage to F. Joan Koons. Along with his wife of sixty-six years he is survived by daughter Kathy Parks, Imler, PA; grandchildren Nicholas Koons, Angelica (Koons) Stiffler, Abigail (Koons) Waltz; Lucynda Parks and Emily Parks and three great grandchildren; Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his son Glenn B. Koons; brothers Edgar Koons, Oliver Koons, Maynard Koons and sisters Elaine Lipton and Irene Cummins.
Mr. Koons worked as a telephone technician manager until his retirement. He enjoyed the New Jersey Ocean and sailing on Barnegat Bay and was an avid golfer and gardener. He loved putting puzzles together and woodworking. Bud served in many capacities throughout his life, including Boy Scout Leader; treasurer of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Island Beach, NJ; treasurer of the Alliance for a Living Ocean, a non-profit environmental organization; and lifelong passionate volunteer.
