James V. “Jim” Rodgers, 81, of Altoona died Sunday June 16, 2019 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born on August 1, 1937 in Altoona, son of the late John E. and Mary Louise (Stoltz) Rodgers.He married Susan M. Walker on May 4, 1985 and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter- Dannette Dewey husband Keith of Reading, 3 sons- James S. Rodgers fiance Jean of Altoona, Michael P. Foor wife Cathy of Hopkinsville,KY, and Brian R. Foor wife Tiffany of Hopkinsville KY. 10 Grandchildren,7 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, a sister in law- Linda Guida and her husband Billy, a special nephew- Bradley Walker and Jim’s cat- Miss Bib. Jim was preceded in death by a sister- Mary Lou Mackimm. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church Bellwood, retired from Butterick Fashion Marketing after 38 years as a bindery leadman and also from Martins Food after 16 years as a receiving food clerk.Jim was a 1955 Graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne from 1955 until 1958. He loved animals, camping, gardening, wood working, and caring for his lawn. Friends will be received from 2-4p.m. and 6-8p.m. on Friday June 21, 2019 at The Good Funeral Home Inc. A Funeral Service will be held at 10a.m. on Saturday June 22, 2019 at The Good Funeral Home Inc. with interment to follow in Alto Reste Park Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
