James “Jim” Slater, 87 was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday after a brief Illness, at home.
Jim was born in Sheffield, Pennsylvania to Mildred Anna Erickson and George McClellan Slater on Oct. 31, 1934.

Jim is survived by his children and their spouses; Michael and Cheryl Slater, Karen and Edward Maroney III, Tom and Rob Ping Slater, Thomas and Patricia Hazenstab, and Sue and Robert Richers. He is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren along with his sisters, Mary Beckwith and Judith Sadler.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Alice Lucille (Leap) Slater “Lucy”, his brother George Slater and two sisters: Theresa Dunham and Sylvia Graham.

Jim had a great love for anything outdoors. He had a passion for gardening, fishing, and hunting. Jim was a master craftsman and woodworker. He could make anything just by examining it. Jim was also an avid sports fan. He loved his “Nittany Lions” and Pittsburgh Steelers.

He was a graduate of Sheffield High School in 1952 and attended Penn State University where he got his Masters in Petroleum Engineering. Jim was employed by Standard of Texas, Chevron, Gulf and Occidental Oil Companies throughout his career.

Family and friends will be received from 10 Am to 11 AM on March 3, 2022 at The Good Funeral Home Inc, 108 Alto Reste Park. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM with Pastor John Collins officiating. Internment will take place at Alto-Reste Park.
