Jean P. Daugherty, 94, of Altoona, went to Heaven on Tuesday. She was born in Henrietta, daughter of the late Chalmer E. and Sadie (Barnett) Ketner. On March 15, 1947, Jean married Robert B. Daugherty. He preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 2009.
Surviving are her son, Donald (Patti) of Altoona; a grandson, Thomas R. Daugherty; three great- grandchildren, Miranda, Caleb, and Brayden; a great-great-granddaughter, Ava Karen; two sisters, Rose McNally of Martinsburg and Shirley Whittlesey (Tom) of Tulsa, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her son, Thomas, who was killed by a drunk driver in 1964, while he was hiking with other Boy Scouts; and by six sisters and five brothers.
She worked as a LPN at the Hollidaysburg State Hospital. Jean loved her family and enjoyed cooking, Bible study, crocheting, and loved God.
Jean is walking and praising God on streets of gold , having no more pain, and seeing loved ones that went on before her. Praise God in the highest. She will be waiting to greet us when it is our turn to go home. If you are ready to meet God, praise his Holy name, if not, ask God to forgive you of your sins, so you are ready to meet God. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16.
