Jennie L. (Goodman) Benton, 73, formerly of Hollidaysburg, lost her battle with cancer Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Fla. She was the daughter of Ruth J. Goodman.

Jennie is survived by a daughter, Dr. Amanda (Joel Young) Benton; nephews, Donald, Timothy, and David Greenleaf, and sister, Glenda (John) Muccitelli and family.

Jennie was preceded in death by her mother; a sister, Mary Lou Price; and former husband George P. Benton.

After graduating from Altoona High School in 1966, Jennie worked at the Peoples Natural Gas Company and then as a legal secretary. In 1982, she began a 30-year career at the United States Postal Service (USPS) as a clerk at the Altoona office and was later promoted to Clerk Supervisor and, eventually, Officer-in-Charge. She served in this position in Bellefonte, Clearfield, and Huntington and as the Postmaster of the Saxton and Williamsburg Post Offices. She ended her career as a Carrier Supervisor at the Naples, Florida Post Office before retiring to the Fort Lauderdale area, where she enjoyed living near her daughter and son-in-law.

Jennie will be remembered for her deep compassion for dogs, caring for numerous pets throughout her life. She enjoyed lunching and shopping at the Florida beaches, and visiting and reading about historic lighthouses along the Atlantic coastline.

Friends and family will be received for a visitation at The Good Funeral Home, Alto Reste Park, from 2 PM until the 3 PM funeral service on Saturday, Feb. 26. Interment will take place at Alto-Reste Park.
