Joann W. “Josie” Erickson, 88, of Duncansville, passed away Thursday at the Presbyterian Home Hollidaysburg. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Samuel H. and Estella (Nelson) Werking. Josie married William C. Erickson on Aug. 3, 1957, in the Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Marlea J. Castle (David); two grandchildren, Brian Nevel and Kelley Mattiello; and two great-grandchildren.
Josie was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Erickson; and two brothers, John N. and Byron L. Werking.
She graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1950 and was employed by Altoona Trust Company and C&G Savings Bank. She was a member and organist at the Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren. Josie was an organist for 39 years at various churches.
All services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Alto Reste Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the activities department of the Presbyterian Home Hollidaysburg.
