Joseph N. Veller, 77, HollidaysÂburg, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday at UPMC Altoona.
He was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Vacarro) Veller. On Oct. 23, 1976, he married the love of his life, Connie Bender.
In addition to his wife, surviving are a son, Joseph M. Veller in Nevada; a daughter, Lisa Gentry and three granddaughters, all in Texas; a brother, Jerry (Dolores) Veller in Alabama; a sister, Francine (Jack) Hubble in Ohio; his mother-in-law, Doris Roller in Hollidaysburg; and his extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Veller; and a brother, John Veller.
Joseph was a man of faith and member of the St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Hollidaysburg. He spent most of his working life in the retail management business, but for the last seven years, he drove a school bus for the Hollidaysburg Area School District. Every morning after his bus run, he would make his way to Martin’s Food Store to shop and to play his scratch off ticket. He found joy in his little Chihuahua, Sammy, spending time with his wife and taking trips down to Rocky Gap Casino.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, Monsignor Stanley Carson celebrant. Committal will be held at Alto-Reste Park. Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park.
