Obituary

Kenneth James Caldwell

May 30, 1951 – Dec. 9, 2020

Kenneth James Caldwell, 69, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Altoona surrounded by his loving family.

He was the son of Wilber K. and Mary S. Caldwell. On Aug. 25, 1973, he married Margaret Lantzy.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret; two sons: Travis Caldwell and wife, Tania and Neil Caldwell and wife, Emily; a granddaughter, Natalie Caldwell; a grandson, Trent Caldwell; a sister, Linda O’Donnell and her husband, Les; a niece, Rachel Loehr, and her children, Mackenzie and Brayden; as well as his beloved cat, Ralphie, who always made him smile.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter, Emma Caldwell.

He was a 1969 graduate of Altoona Area High School and 1973 graduate of Penn State. He graduated from the Police Academy at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1979 and attended a St. Francis University Master Program. He worked as a youth counselor for the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare and was a lieutenant of police with Conrail. He later became owner of Uriah’s Restaurant and Pub and spent his retirement years as a residential service worker with autistic men.

Ken enjoyed football, comedians, horse racing, casinos, darts and cruises. He was proud to have brought professional comedy to Altoona for 18 of the 20 years he was owner of Uriah’s Restaurant and Pub. Most of all, he enjoyed time with his family, traveling and cruising. He was proud of his sons, Travis and Neil and his marriage to Margaret for 47 years. He loved having his grandchildren Natalie and Trent visit. He enjoyed life to the fullest, has had few regrets, and for the most part, he had a great time.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or service. He had no interest in an eternal life and opted to rest in peace for eternity. His ashes will be near his beloved mother, Mary and his favorite dog, Zoie.

A party to celebrate his life will be held on his birthday, May 30, 2021. Have a toast or two in celebration of a life well lived.
