Kenneth Paul McGeary, 77, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at his home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Kenneth and Mildred (Bathurst) McGeary. On Oct. 22, 1966, he married Maria Elaine Sortino.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Deannalynn Reigh (Jeff) and Justine Marie Contrerras (Jeff); a stepson, Boyd Schilling; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters: Marion McMillan and Roxy Mitchell; and two brothers: Allen and Dennis McGeary.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Stacey Carothers; and a sister, Janet Hughes.
Kenneth attended Altoona High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam War veteran, having served from 1964-65. He was employed by Union Tank Car.
Ken was of the Baptist Faith. He was a member of the Bellwood Eagles, VFW and American Legion.
He enjoyed fishing, traveling and carpentry.
Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, Pastor Matt Plott officiating. Interment will be held in Alto-Reste Park.
