Obituary for Kären Eileen Love (Rogers)

Kären passed away December 27, 2021 surrounded by loved ones following a 4 year battle with brain cancer. She was born in Abington, Pennsylvania to parents Eileen Gyllenhaal Rogers and Gordon Rogers. She married Bruce Love at The General Church of the New Jerusalem in Bryn Athyn in 1983 and had two children, Timothy and Alysia. In early 2011 Kären became a legal guardian of her then 5 year old granddaughter Kylie, whom she raised as a daughter.

Kären was raised and educated in Bryn Athyn Pennsylvania; a 1977 graduate of The Academy of the New Church College. She was a jack of all trades, and explored her interests in numerous professions.

Everyone who knew Kären would agree she was very creative. Her passion for the arts was expressed through teaching ballet to children, baking special event cakes, and sewing for a doll company. She was ahead of the times in fashion in her young adult life, and was even called on to model her outfits for college art classes. Her avant-garde artistic side coupled with being proficient with computer graphics resulted in developing a variety of multimedia marketing for several Bucks County companies and institutions. She used her love of the arts to establish a kinder prep enrichment program at one Roaring Spring church, where she taught for numerous years. She also served in a similar capacity at the Garver YMCA in Roaring Spring.

Kären was a gentle soul, but also known for humor and quick wit. As one who tried hard to avoid conflict and defuse tensions around her, she discovered (as a child) that humor was often a great tool to lighten the mood, and used it to help her siblings avoid some disciplinary actions.

Kären enjoyed sculpting, crafting, baking, gardening, traveling, dancing, singing, reading the Bible, and spending time with family. She also loved—and was quite skilled at—researching family history and finding long lost branches and secrets of the family tree. She found joy in sharing her many talents and gifts with others, including her love for God.

Kären is survived by her husband, Bruce; children Tim (Michelle) Love, Aly (Josh) Love-Bartley, grandchildren Kylie Love, Gannon and Arielle Bartley, father Gordon Rogers, siblings Sandra (Jim) Pellani, Susan (Ron) Chapman, Kenneth (Michelle) Rogers, in-laws Kären (Chris) Zech, Russ (Debbie) Love as well as many loved nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eileen Rogers and in-laws Robert and Myra Love.

Kären will be remembered with love long after her passing. Memories of her will give those who knew her strength as we grieve her loss.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place Saturday 1/8/22 at 11am located at The Bryn Athyn Cathedral, 900 Cathedral Road, Bryn Athyn, PA, Brian Keith officiating. A reception will follow for family and friends at The Lords New Church, located at 1725 Huntingdon Rd, Huntingdon Valley, PA.
