Lara Elizabeth Behrens, 48, of Smyrna, DE ran through the finish line of her earthly life into the arms of Jesus on July 22, 2020 in Dysart, PA after an extended battle with cancer.

Lara was born in Washington, D. C. on November 22, 1971, and was the daughter of Richard A. Behrens (Chris) and Nancy Lynn (Good) Schultz (Ken).

She is survived by her brothers Thad Behrens (Amy), Geoff Behrens (Kendra), Josh Beyer (Rebekah), Sol Beyer (Brooke), and Eli Beyer (Stephanie); her sisters Dayna Mondello, Samara Mondello Smith (Kyle) and Emme Rylan (Don); aunts Carol Elswick (Ken), Chris McIntyre (John), Jean Behrens, and Kaylene Schultz; uncles George Good (Li) and Sheridan Behrens; grandfather Skip Parker; nieces Taylor, Vivie, Cecily and Kaelynn and nephew Zeke; and many special cousins.

She was preceded in death by: grandparents George and Clara May Good, John and Faith Berg, Clayton Behrens, Laura Schultz and Rheta Parker; uncle William Good (WAG) and cousin George Good II.

Lara loved spending time with her family and friends, but most of all she loved spending time with her dog, Riley. Lara and Riley had a special bond and he was a wonderful blessing to her. She especially loved family vacations to Cape Hatteras, NC where she could reconnect with her wonderful friends that lived there and enjoy the most beautiful beach in the world. Lara had a special relationship with her brothers and loved playing pickle in the yard with them and the never ending laughs when they were together. She loved living in Delaware with all her wonderful friends because it was everything she wanted. She cherished every moment of her time there. Lara’s calling was living a life to serve others, and she made a difference in the lives of countless people. Whatever Lara did in life, she put her whole heart and soul into it. She especially loved all the employees and patrons of Dover Downs.

Services for Lara will be private due to restrictions regarding COVID-19 with Pastor John Collins officiating. Interment will take place at Alto-Reste Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lara’s name may be sent to Family Hospice, Altoona, PA, First Church of Christ, Altoona, PA or Roseland Christian Fellowship, Glasgow, PA.
