Dear Jim,
We were so very sorry to learn of Linda's passing. She was a wonderful person and quite a character, as those of us who had the privilege of working with her know. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to be her colleague during the three years I worked at ALSM. Linda was very good at what she did, but beyond that, she was funny and a good friend. I can still see the look of "what do you want now?" she would fix on me whenever I entered the accounting office.
Of course, working with Linda afforded me the opportunity to meet and know you, and while it's been far too long since I've seen her, a trip to any one of the local grocery stores without seeing and talking with you is never complete. In a serious moment during our shared time at ALSM, I vividly recall Linda saying that she would never want to live without you. That she would prefer, when her time came, to go before you. That certainly speaks to the love and devotion she felt for and toward you, and I know it was reciprocated. Sadly, it's now you, who has to learn to live your life without her, and although she won't be with you physically, she is alive and well both your heart and memories. Please be assured of my prayers for Linda - although God has certainly already welcomed her into his arms, and for you, as you journey along this road of grief and loss. The day will come, as Joe Biden often says, when the thought of her will bring a smile to your face rather than a tear to your eye. Until that day, you will be in our thoughts and prayers.
I've never had the pleasure of meeting young Jim, although with parents like you and Linda, he cannot help but be a top-notch person. I am sorry for his loss as well.
With sympathy,
Kirk & Maureen Dodson
