Obituary for Lois Rhea Crider (Jasimas)

Lois Crider beloved wife of Elton Crider passed away on July 28, 2019
at age 92 in Hollidayburg PA following a brief illness. Lois was born
in Altoona and grew-up in the 5th ward. She was the daughter of
Nickolas Jasimas and Annie Rabar Jasimas. She is survived by her
spouse of 68 years Elton Crider who she married at the Christian
Missionary Alliance Church in Altoona under Reverend David Evens. She
was preceded in death by her mother, father and eight siblings. Lois
was a 1945 graduate of Altoona High School and was active in the
Alumni Association for many years. Prior to retirement Lois worked at
Acme for 25 years as a casher and in payroll/deposits. After
retirement Lois joined the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) to
follow her passion in serving others. Lois volunteered at the Mercy,
Bon Secours and UMPC Hospitals. In her 49 years of volunteering at
local hospitals Lois provided more than 14,800 hours of service. In
addition to her volunteer work at local hospitals she also volunteered
for a variety local agencies such as the American Heart Association,
United Way and Blair Senior Services. In all Lois volunteered more
than 17,000 hours since her retirement from the formal work force.
She was a member of Blair County Community Foundation and the Central
Pennsylvania Community Foundation.
A memorial service will be held for Lois Crider at 11am at the First
Church of God on Union Avenue in Altoona on Monday 5th of August 2019.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in the name of Lois Crider
may be sent to The Salvation Army of Western PA (700 N. Bell Ave,
Carnegie, PA 15106) or the Alleghany Lutheran Social Ministries
Benevolence Fund (998 Logan Blvd, Altoona PA 16602).
