Obituary for Mary Louise Smith
Mary Louise Smith, age 92 of Madison, VA passed away at the Mountain View Nursing Home in Aroda, VA on Friday, October 7, 2022. She was born on November 16, 1929 in Altoona, PA to Elbert E. Cheers and Evelyn R. Hamler Cheers. Mary Louise had two years of business training at The Altoona School of Commerce and worked briefly in State College, PA before becoming a homemaker and caregiver.
Mary Louise is survived by her children David Smith and his wife Sonya of Connecticut, Carolyn Falcioni and her husband Al of North Carolina, Richard Smith and his wife Kate of Ohio, Brian Smith and his wife Janet of Pennsylvania, Steven Smith and his wife Bonnie of Vermont, Donald Smith and his wife Mary of Pennsylvania, Cheryl Bentz and her husband Mike of Pennsylvania and Susan Miller and her husband Brad of Virginia. Also surviving are twenty-eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, her brother Gene Cheers of Maryland and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Robert V. Smith, her brother Jim Cheers and great-granddaughter Molly Ann Gries.
There will be a brief service at the Clore-English Funeral Home Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Tucker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
A formal funeral service will be held at The Good Funeral Home, 108 Alto Reste Park, Altoona, PA Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation time one hour prior to service time. Interment will be held Monday, October 17, 2022 at the Alto Reste Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Mountain View Nursing Home, 1776 Elly Road, Aroda, VA 22709.
