Obituary for Michael Lee McNeal

Michael Lee McNeal, 72 of Altoona, PA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 10, 2021 at UPMC Altoona.

Michael was born on September 16, 1948, in Huntingdon, PA. He was the son of the late Rex McMickens and Anna Mae McNeal. Michael is survived by his wife, Sonja, his daughters; Tameka Lov McNeal-Harris of Charleston, SC, Quenell L. Melton-Richardson of Altoona, PA and his sons; Michael L. McNeal Jr of Philadelphia, PA and John Weaver of Altoona, PA.

Michael is survived by one brother Lowell E. McMickens of Huntingdon, PA and one sister, Michelle Isenberg of Tunkhannock. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Alison L. Morton and Edwina Thompson.

Michael attended Huntingdon Public schools and graduated in 1967. He had a passion for driving and was an excellent map reader. He worked for the Philadelphia Port Authority system as a bus driver, Snyder as a truck driver and his last full-time position was with PPG as a factory worker. His last part-time position as a driver was with Community Action helping and serving others. He would never turn anyone down if they needed assistance. He was always there for others. Michael became a member of New Creation in Christ Ministry Church. He wanted everyone he met to know how much he loved the Lord. He always invited others to visit New Creation in Christ Ministry Church. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was the ultimate Peacemaker. So much so, he was affectionately known as Papa Bear. Michael enjoyed watching football, especially the Philadelphia Eagles and playing cards with friends. Michael will be truly missed by his family and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM noon on Saturday, September 18 at New Creation in Christ Ministry Church, 1620 16th Street, Altoona, PA 16601. Interment will be made at Alto-Reste Park.
