Patricia A. Smith
Patricia ‘Patty’ A. Smith , 80, of Altoona, PA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 4, 2021 at home with her family after a courageous battle with dementia.
Patty was born in Altoona, PA on May 10, 1940, and was the daughter of Ralph E. and Vera E. Smith. On April 25, 1959, she married the love of her life, Richard F. Smith. Richard and Patty enjoyed 62 years of marriage and were a shining example of living out their vows to each other.
She is survived by her husband; her daughters, Tammy Peterman (Tim), Tracy Polo (Kenneth), and Jennifer Neil (Jim); her grandchildren, Erica Lockard (Lee), Jared Peterman (Catherine), Lauren Pine and Tyler Neil; her great-grandson, Landon Lockard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bill Smith; her sister, Dorothy Stahl; and her grandson, Zachary Peterman.
Patty graduated from Altoona Area High School in 1958. She drove a school bus for the Altoona Area School District for 36 years, and worked at The Disney Store in the Logan Valley Mall. Disney had a special place in Patty’s heart and she and her husband made over 60 trips to Disney World over their time together. Patty loved the beach. Whether it was Myrtle Beach or the Florida Keys, she always enjoyed her time basking in the sun on the sand. Patty was an amazing cook and also enjoyed sewing, ceramics, and gardening. She enjoyed any time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
All services for Patty will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Patty’s honor to the Central PA Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602 or UPMC Family Hospice, 20 Sheraton Dr., Altoona, PA 16602. Interment will take place at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona, PA.
