Paul I. Gomes, 87, a resident of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, died Tuesday at the home, following a brief illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Ralph and Madelyn (Zeigler) Gomes. Paul married Elizabeth Loretta "Betty" Dascanio and she preceded him in death on April 9, 2017.
Surviving are two daughters: Patty (Rob) Repko and Cheryl (Alton) Ebersole; a son, Paul; a stepdaughter, Elaine (Fred) Vaught; a stepson, Matthew Lesniak; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Paul was a 1950 graduate of Altoona High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as an insurance agent for Prudential Life and owned and operated a lawn care business in Florida.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bradenton, Fla., and where he also was a member of the Moose and VFW.
Paul loved to dance, read, and he enjoyed watching sports.
All services will be private. Entombment will be made in Alto-Reste Park. Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park.
