Obituary for Regina L. "Jeanne" Delozier (Dodson)

Regina L. “Jeanne” (Dodson) Delozier, 94, East Freedom, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be forever missed by so many who knew and loved her, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020.

She was born in Newry, daughter of the late Leo B. and Marie C. (Claar) Dodson. On Nov. 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to the late Theodore “Ted” Delozier in St. Patrick Church in Newry, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 2020, after 72 years of marriage.

Surviving are her children: Lisa Ritchey and husband, Dan, Larry “Joe” Delozier and wife, Beverly, and Eric Delozier; grandchildren: Obadiah Ritchey and wife, Erin, and Jacob “Jake” Ritchey and wife, Danielle; great-grandchildren: Trenton, Isaiah and Elias; sisters: Colleen Ercole and husband, Michael, and Barbara Leslie and husband, Jerry; brothers: Lawrence “Mike” Dodson and wife, Dorothy, and Vincent Dodson and wife, Joy; and the compassionate caregivers of Homewood at Martinsburg.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings: Marian “Mamie” Blazevich, Loretta “Ret” Walter, Inez Biesinger, Paul “Con” Dodson and Raymond Dodson.

Regina was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, Class of 1943, where she participated in tumbling, girls athletic, social dancing and hobby clubs. After graduating from high school, she went on to work at Sylvania Electric Products. During WWII, she held security clearance to help manufacture classified products to support the country’s mission in the war.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, attending Mass at St. Patrick Church, Altoona Curve and Pirates baseball and supporting the needs of charitable organizations and children and youth programs. Regina held life membership in the Claysburg and later the Bedford American Legion Auxiliary. At Claysburg, she was consistently a top seller in the Poppy Program, where proceeds go directly to assist disabled and hospitalized veterans in our communities.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2020, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Newry.
