Obituary for Robert E. Yeager

Robert E. Yeager, 89, passed away peacefully Thursday at his home in Hollidaysburg. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Glasgow) Yeager. On Aug. 18, 1956, in Windber, he married Marian (Rock) Yeager who preceded him in death on Feb. 28, 2014.

Robert proudly served his country as a United States Army MP in the International Patrol in Vienna, Austria, during the Korean War, earning his honorable discharge.

After receiving his engineering degree from Penn State, Robert became a civil engineer. He was vice president of Vipond & Vipond and a regional manager for IA Construction. He then worked as an independent consultant until his retirement. He was also the past local and national president of the American Society of Highway Engineers, then the national treasurer for many years.

He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, good food, friends and family, especially his great-granddaughters, and sitting on his porch watching sunsets. Some of his memberships included: ASHE life member, 50 year member Masonic Lodge 220, Life Member Tyrone Elks Club, 50 year member Scottish Rite and a life member of the Trout Run Rod and Gun Club.

Robert is survived by his two children, Susan Swope (Greg) of Hollidaysburg and Jeffrey Yeager of Hollidaysburg; two grandchildren, Justine Clark (Corey) and Katrina Pike (Alex); and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Ella Clark.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021, at The Good Funeral Home, 108 Alto Reste Park, Altoona. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Bowman officiating. Interment will be private at Alto Reste Park, Altoona.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Faith Riders at The Zion Lutheran Church, 500 Allegheny St, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
