Rodney was born in Altoona on August 6, 1957. He was the son of the late Frank M. and Donna F. (Singer) Gottshall. On October 22, 1977, he married the love of this life, Cheryl A. (Flanagan) Gottshall, and they shared 35 wonderful years together until her passing on August 6, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his brother, Tim Gottshall.
Rodney is survived by his son, Robert Gottshall; daughter, Renee Snyder (Sean); brother, Jeffrey Gottshall; sister, Beth Salyards; brother-in-law, Wayne Flanagan; sister-in-law, Paula DeBiase; grandchildren, Matthew Rice, Ashley Snyder (Ethan), and Jaiden and Kayla Gottshall; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a 1975 graduate of Altoona Area High School, and he spent his career in sales for U. S. Food Service. He was a member of the Grace Bible Church in Hollidaysburg.
Rodney loved to travel, especially to Arizona during the winters. He was always up for a concert, and it didn’t really matter what type of music it was. Rodney enjoyed the outdoors, and would take any opportunity that he had to ride his motorcycle, hike or camp in this area that he loved so much. He was committed to helping people, and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone that needed it. Most of all, he adored his family, and cherished every moment he got to be Pappy to his grandchildren.
There will be a public visitation for Rodney from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at The Good Funeral Home on Plank Rd. on Monday, November 14, 2022. The funeral will take place at The Good Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Pastor Lou Hileman will be officiating. Interment will take place at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Rodney’s name be sent to the charity of your choice.
