Obituary for Sharyn R. "Sheri" Ventre
Sharyn R. Ventre, 75, of Hollidaysburg, died peacefully Monday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, daughter of late Kenneth “K.O.” and Esther McGraw.
She is survived by her husband, Teddy Ventre, of 38 years; her sons, Richard Johnston and Greg Johnston; daughter-in-law, Nikole; two grandchildren, Dominik and Dylan Johnston; her beloved Labradoodle, and furriest of companions, Bradshaw; and grand dog, Baby Bruno. Sheri is also survived by countless friends, many of whom she considered family. Those blessed to know her, knew of her devotion toward friendship.
Sheri was a 1965 graduate of Altoona High School and attended Lycoming College.
She spent her professional career working for Sears in administration, and Allegheny Electronics and DC Ventre and Son’s Excavating (her family’s businesses) as comptroller.
She was an active member of her place of worship, First United Methodist Church of Hollidaysburg, where she served as a greeter and was involved with the soup kitchen.
The kindest and most gentle of souls, Sheri had the patience of a Saint, always putting others first. She was a caring wife, proud mother, and an amazing grandmother. Most of all, Sheri enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends and attending her grandson’s activities as she loved being a grandma.
Friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona, with Grace Marie Ransom, Officiant.
Memorial contributions may be made in Sheri’s name to First United Methodist Church of Hollidaysburg; or Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
