Shirley Ann (McKelvey) Brandt

Shirley Ann (McKelvey) Brandt, 81, of Altoona, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona. She was a daughter of the late Clair Edward McKelvey and Mary Louise (Dotzler) McKelvey of Hollidaysburg.
On Aug. 5, 1961, Shirley married the love of her life, Glenn C. Brandt, of Altoona. They celebrated 58 years of marriage until her husband’s passing on Aug. 17, 2019.
Surviving are her sons, Glenn (Betty) Brandt II of Pittsburgh, and Gregg Brandt of Greensburg; and daughter, Amy (Phillip) Robertson of Altoona; grandchildren: Courtney (Lindsey) Lee-Brandt; Catherine, James and Jenna Brandt; Paige (Michael) McCarthy; Elliott and Noah Robertson; and Edward and Ellen Brandt and; six great-grandchildren: Rebel and Gage Stevens, Jack Lee-Brandt, and Alex, Chloe and Rhys McCarthy, sister, Clare (George) Burk of Hollidaysburg; and brother, Thomas McKelvey Sr. of Hollidaysburg.
Shirley was a former cheerleader and 1959 graduate of Altoona High School.
When she wasn’t a stay-at-home mom and raising her family, Shirley was employed as an office administrator for 29 years with Blair Orthopedic in Altoona, where she later retired.
Shirley was a devout member of Garden Heights United Methodist Church and later First United Methodist Church of Hollidaysburg. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Masonic Association. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends and a beautiful smile.
During her retirement, Shirley was very active with her family and will be missed by all who knew her.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2023, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
