Obituary

Shirley J. (Bragonier) Colledge, 90, Altoona, formerly of Chandler, Ariz., died Sunday at her residence, 1101 Flamingo Drive, Graystone Villas, after an extended illness.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Edgar T. and Mary (Fralich) Bragonier. On July 14, 1950, she married Charles E. Colledge Sr. in Altoona.

Surviving are her two daughters: Dr. Deborah Colledge and Beth Colledge, both of Altoona; a son, Charles Jr. of Goodyear, Ariz.; numerous nieces and nephews; and two cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Colledge Sr., in 2010; and seven siblings: Pearl Lytle, Eleanor McGinnis, Alice Farber, Virginia Otto and Edgar, Robert and Milton Bragonier.

Shirley was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School. In 1978, she graduated with her licensed practical nursing certification from the Altoona Area Vocational-Technical School.

Through the years, she worked at various jobs including Benzel's Pretzels; Butterick Co. Inc; in the cafeteria for the Altoona Area School District; bookkeeping at Goods and K-Mart; and as an LPN at Van Zandt VA Medical Center and the VA in Phoenix, Ariz. She ended her career as a school nurse for Kyrene School District, Tempe, Ariz. Shirley retired as a school nurse in 1995 after 17 years in the nursing profession.

Shirley attended First United Methodist Church of Hollidaysburg.

She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, playing cards, needlework and going on various bus trips. Shirley had a special fondness for dogs and cats including her current granddogs: Delaney, Mauti and Gomez.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic a memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park. Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park.
