Sylvia Louise Schmerbeck, 68, of Altoona, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday. She was born on in Altoona, daughter of the late Merle and Dorothy (Bartly) Stiver.
Sylvia married Robert Lee Schmerbeck who preceded her in death on April 29, 2017.
Surviving are two daughters, Peggy Frank (Joseph) of Hollidaysburg and Kelly Clark (Dave) of Altoona; three sons: William Claar (Danielle) of Tyrone, Bruce Claar (Amy) of New Enterprise and Brian Young (Stacy) of Altoona. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four sisters; a brother; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sylvia was preceded in death by two husbands; a great-granddaughter; and by three sisters; and three brothers.
She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandkids and great-grandkids. She also enjoyed gardening, bird watching, craft-making and watching stories.
Sylvia was of the Baptist faith and attended numerous churches.
She was employed at the Holiday Inn and at Skills of Central Pennsylvania where she retired.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park.
