Theodore C. 'Ted' Delozier

Theodore C. "Ted" Delozier, 94, East Freedom, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, coach and mentor, who will be forever missed by so many who knew and loved him, passed away Wednesday.
He was born in East Freedom, son of the late Theodore M. and Ada C. (Lingenfelter) Delozier. On Nov. 26, 1947, he married Regina L. Dodson at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Newry.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Lisa (Dan) Ritchey; two sons: Larry "Joe" (Beverly) and Eric Delozier; two grandchildren: Obadiah (Erin) and Jacob "Jake" (Danielle) Ritchey; three great-grandsons: Trenton, Isaiah and Elias; and the compassionate caregivers of Homewood at Martinsburg.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul.
Ted was a 1943 graduate of Roaring Spring High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1952. Ted served in the U.S. Navy as a Radioman Third Class, Submarine Division 301 and 101 during WWII, where he served in the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres.
He was employed by Bellwood-Antis School District as a general science, biology and chemistry teacher and the assistant football coach from 1953-55. Ted was also employed by the Claysburg-Kimmel School District as a general science, biology and chemistry teacher and he was also an attendance officer, athletic director, head baseball coach and assistant and head football coach from 1955-85. During the fall of 1962, Ted and his long time colleague, Richard Hoenstine, guided the football team into an undefeated season.
Ted organized summer recreation programs in East Freedom and Claysburg for many years. He was a paid up life-member, past-commander and color guard of the Claysburg American Legion Post 522 and business manager of the Legion Baseball Team. He also co-founded and was a catcher in the Blair Twilight Baseball League.
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2020, and from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park, the Rev. Jerry McCuller and the Rev. Jim Neatrour officiating. Interment will take place in Alto-Reste Park.
In lieu of flowers or food, memorial donations may be made to Claysburg Education Foundation, 582 Showalter Road, East Freedom, PA 16637 or to the Roaring Spring Community Library, 320 E. Main St., Roaring Spring, PA 16673.
