Obituary for Thomas Gordon "Tom" Baldwin
Thomas Gordan "Tom" Baldwin, 77, Cresson, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019.
Surviving are his oldest brother, Dr. Norman Baldwin and his sister-in-law, Dr. Nona Baldwin, of Wakefield, R.I.
Tom graduated with a bachelor's degree in education from Clarion State University. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve with active duty. He was an elementary school teacher in the Altoona Area School District for many years and retired from teaching. Tom enjoyed working with students as a math teacher and maintained longtime friendships with some of his students.
He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed discussions about trading vehicles with auto dealers in the area. Tom's passion was riding bicycles in rural areas of Altoona and on beaches in Cape Canaveral, Fla. He also was an active hiker at both locations. He was a faithful fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and, for many years, watched their games at every opportunity.
Tom was known for his dry humor, which friends and family enjoyed. He was widely known for his integrity, honesty, fairness and congeniality.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2019, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park. A burial will be held at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
