Obituary for Thomas E. Kobal

Thomas E. "Zeke" Kobal, affectionately known as "PaPa," 75, of Altoona, formerly of Johnstown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday at his home, surrounded by his family following an extended illness.

He was born in Johnstown, son of the late Francis and Sophie (Rykala) Kobal. He married Connie Lee (Callen) on June 15, 1965.

In addition to his wife, surviving are his daughter, Theresa Lynne (Mark) Rehm; his son, Leonard T. (Kelly) Kobal; three grandchildren: Dakota Kobal, Delaney Rehm and Kolten Kobal, all of whom he loved dearly; his sister, Betty Heinlein; two brothers: John and Edward Kobal; and many aunts, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister; a brother, James; and a brother-in-law, James Heinlein.

Thomas was a 1962 graduate of Franklin Borough High School and he retired from both Bethlehem Steel and Republic Technologies International.

He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Altoona, a lifetime member of the Franklin Borough Volunteer Fire Company and the White Eagles Society.

Thomas enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Fan.

There will not be any visitation or funeral service. Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park.
