Thomas Eugene Maillard
Nov. 16, 1942 - Oct. 15, 2021
Thomas Eugene (Tommy) Maillard of Altoona passed away peacefully at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Altoona to the late Eugene & Erma ( Kaylor ) Maillard. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother David Maillard.
Tommy worked as a plumber in the area for over 50 years and for Bobby Sipes Plumbing for over 20 years. Upon his retirement, he continued using his skills to help family, friends, and neighbors. He was also always ready to lend a hand to people in need.
In his spare time he enjoyed shooting pool, gardening, and watching baseball and westerns, especially Walker, Texas Ranger on TV. He also loved visiting the beach and making wonderful lifetime memories with his family & friends.
On Feb. 14, 2007, Tommy married Debra (Singer) Shannon in Altoona, who survives. He was a devoted husband, and he loved taking care of his wife. His wife, Debra called him her "Tommy Bear “. She said he was the “Love of her Life” and she felt blessed to have met and married him. His family and friends described him as one of the most kind, gentle and loving souls they ever met. If you ever had the chance to meet Tommy, you would have gained a friend for life. In addition to his wife Debra Maillard, he is also survived by his stepdaughter, Laura Shannon of Altoona, mother-in-law, Dorothy Singer of Altoona, sister-in-law who he called “Sissy", Terri Singer-Little (Thomas) in Delaware, and a brother-in-law, Michael Singer (Jennifer) in Maryland.
