Obituary

Warren Alan Gingrich
March 14, 1924 – May 23, 2020

Warren Alan Gingrich, 96, of Hollidaysburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday. He was born in Mercersburg, the son of the late Howard D. and Pearl (Henneberger) Gingrich. Warren married Joyce Gothe on Aug. 5, 1950.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years; three daughters: Jill Miller (Kerry), Beth Smith (Keith), and Diane George; two sons: Gary G. (Jill) and Mark T. Gingrich (Rachel); 12 grandchildren: Kerrilynn, Sarah, Heather, Carl, Max, Michelle, Cole, Clay, Jaime, Maddy, Tara, and Nina; four great-grandchildren: Lucas, Alex, Mira, and Parker; two sisters: Marie Louise Gingrich and Suzanne Rice.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Howard D. Jr. and Richard H. Gingrich.

Warren was a member of First Presbyterian Church Hollidaysburg. He was a 1941 graduate of Greencastle High School and a 1949 graduate of Gettysburg College. He served in the United States Navy during WWII from March 1943 until March 1946.

He founded the Warren A. Gingrich Agency in 1954. He was the past president of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, chairman of the Blair County Hospital Authority, member of the Navy League, and served on the board of directors of the Allegheny Lutheran Home. He also served on the board of Baker Mansion in 1977, was a member and past president (1957) of the Altoona Jaycees, member and past president (1971) of Altoona Lions Club, board member of Altoona Chamber of Commerce, Executive Board member and Vice President of Altoona Enterprises, member of Mountain Lodge 281 Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite, Jaffa Shrine, and Royal Order of Jesters. He also was a member and past president (1960) of the Blair County Association of Fire and Casualty Association of Insurance Agents, served on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania State Insurance Association, and was a member of the Altoona Association Life Underwriters and Blair United Fund.

Warren was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his family meant everything to him.

All services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. Entombment will take place in Alto Reste Park. Arrangements are in care of The Good Funeral Home Inc.
