Obituary for Wilbur Lee Walk Sr.

Wilbur Lee Walk, Sr. 76, of Altoona passed away Sunday, October 6, 2019 at his home surrounded by loving family and friends.


Born June 16, 1943 in Altoona, he was the son of the late Wilbur Walk and Jacqueline A. (White) Walk.


On November 5, 1966 he married R. Lucille “Lucy” (Boyles) Walk in Bellwood.


He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lucy; 2 sons, Wilbur L Walk, Jr. and wife Denise, and Robert A. Walk and wife Priscilla; two beautiful grand-daughters Judith M. and Alyvia D. Walk; sister-in-laws Louise Beck, Pat Bush, and Roxanne (Jay) Miller; Aunt Helen Walk all of Bellwood; special friend Steve Cooney and family; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and his furry friends Rylee and Sneakers.


Along with his parents, Wilbur was preceded in death by his sister Judith A. Walk and favorite uncle Will “Widge” Walk.


He lived in Garden Heights since third grade and still maintains friendships with childhood friends Dick Harris and Bob Miller.


He graduated from Altoona High School after which he joined the Army. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, Spec. 4. He received the Department of Army Commendation Medal for Heroism.


Wilbur retired with 38 years of service from Fonda/West Vaco, Williamsburg. Upon retirement he enjoyed day hiking, fishing, bowling, NASCAR, Penn State, and Steeler football and ham radio. His favorite past-time was woodworking, making furniture, lawn ornaments and toys for family and friends. He especially loved doing projects, blowing bubbles and playing games with his “pickle” Judith.


Friends will be received from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto Reste. A funeral service will take place at funeral home at 11am on October 10, 2019.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Wilbur’s name may be made to either Mending Hearts or the Humane Society.
